In Mumbai, where the streets beat like a drum and dreams waltz between traffic lights and skyline silhouettes, Sohamkumar Rathod found his calling not in studios, but in soul. A dancer shaped not by classrooms but by passion, he stepped into the world of choreography in 2009 — guided only by the music in his heart and the rhythm in his bones. With every move, he tells a story; with every sangeet he choreographs, he brings families closer, laughter louder, and moments more magical. His journey is a dance of resilience, spun with self-belief and lit by the joy of movement.

A Journey Born from Rhythm and Reverence

Soham’s story isn’t one built in classrooms or under the spotlight of elite dance academies — it’s a tale rooted in inspiration, grit, and a little childhood magic. Like many from his generation, Soham found his first spark watching Boogie Woogie, India’s iconic dance reality show. But it was Hrithik Roshan, with his effortless charisma and gravity-defying moves, who truly set his soul ablaze.

No formal training. No structured syllabus. Just raw passion and countless hours of practice. That’s how Soham built himself.

Signature Moves: Bollywood Meets Bollyhop

Soham’s choreographic identity lies in his love for Bollywood and Bollyhop — a genre-bending blend of traditional filmy flair and urban freestyle. Whether it’s a couple’s first dance or a grand group performance, he tailors each piece to the person, often choreographing on the spot after observing how they move and learn. His teaching style is fluid, adaptive, and rooted in empathy — a skill that only comes from years of hands-on experience.

Weddings: Where Magic Happens

From intimate family moments to star-studded sangeets, Soham has become a sought-after name in the wedding choreography circuit. Among his proudest projects stands the sangeet of Manish Malhotra’s niece, Riddhi Malhotra. “She could have chosen anyone from the industry,” Soham reflects, “but she chose me and Viren. That trust meant everything.”

Today, his client list spans geographies. He’s currently working on an online sangeet for a cross-cultural couple — a Maharashtrian groom and a Sri Lankan bride — choreographing their special day from thousands of miles away.

More Than Just Dance

Soham finds inspiration in people — in their uniqueness, their stories, and the joy they bring to the dance floor. He credits mentors and icons like Javed Jaffery, Hrithik Roshan, and Viren Lakum for shaping his journey.

But the road hasn’t always been smooth. Multiple accidents tested both his body and spirit. “Recovery was tough,” he shares. “But I pushed through with self-motivation. Dance has always been my healer.”

Forever a Student

Despite his experience, Soham proudly calls himself a learner. He watches dance videos on Instagram and YouTube, studies new trends, and constantly absorbs — because to him, staying updated is staying humble.

Dancing Toward a Dream

Looking ahead, Soham is focused on making a mark in the wedding industry, one couple, one moment, one beat at a time. Through his work, he sends a simple yet powerful message:

“Anybody can dance. It’s the only art form where your mind, body, and soul move together.”

And to every aspiring artist out there, his advice rings true:

“Be humble and ridiculously kind.”
