From Phone Videos to Film Sets
Gaurav’s artistic journey began in 2018, not in a film school, but with a friend’s startup — SirJp Sports — where he started shooting and editing videos on his phone. Back then, he worked in auto mode, literally and figuratively, discovering photography and videography on the go.
When the pandemic hit in 2020 and the world paused, Gaurav pressed play. The lockdown became a transformative period where he taught himself Adobe software and experimented with photography at home. His self-learning continued through agency work, where he picked up editing, motion graphics, and professional-grade storytelling.
Inspired by Passion, Driven by Grit
Unlike many who credit external influences for their creative spark, Gaurav draws inspiration from within. He admits academics never excited him, but creativity lit a fire that’s still burning strong. A turning point came when he landed a role as a personal videographer for Riteish and Genelia Deshmukh, a gig that took him to Dubai and marked his first international project.
That opportunity wasn’t just a career milestone; it was a statement — to himself and to everyone who doubted his unconventional path. While others advised him to choose a stable 9-to-5, Gaurav chose a dream instead: to be recognized as one of India’s top cinematographers.
