Behind every note that moves us is a story we rarely hear. For Akshat Kamavisdar, known simply as AK, music isn’t just something he creates—it’s something he breathes, feels, and grows with. Based in Mumbai, AK is a rising music composer and producer whose journey proves that passion, when nurtured with discipline and heart, becomes something extraordinary.

A Rhythm That Started Early

Before DAWs and plugins, before background scores and studio sessions, there was tabla. That was AK’s introduction to music. As a child, rhythm spoke to him in a language he didn’t yet understand but deeply felt. He also had a habit of playing piano melodies by ear, drawn to the mystery of how songs came alive.

Then came theatre in college—a space that unexpectedly pulled him deeper into the world of sound and performance. “I didn’t realize it at the time,” he reflects, “but theatre shaped how I think about storytelling, mood, and music.” Those five years on stage became a quiet prelude to his future behind the console.

The Spark After the Storm

It wasn’t until the pandemic reshaped life for everyone that AK decided to fully embrace music. He enrolled in a music production course, learning production, mixing, and mastering. But more than any institute, it was his family’s unwavering support that gave him the courage to follow this dream.

Listening Like an Artist

If you ask AK what defines his music, he won’t name a genre—he’ll describe a mindset. “I listen to everything—really listen. Every detail, every layer.” For him, music is a study in feeling. His approach is intuitive but precise: sit at the setup, start a loop, play, jam, write… and let it flow.

That consciousness shows in his work. He’s someone who doesn’t just produce tracks—he curates emotion.

No Labels, Just Music

Whether it's a corporate jingle, a bhajan, a film score, or a freelance gig, AK says yes to all of it. “I don’t filter what kind of projects I take. If it involves music, I’m interested.”

One of his proudest moments? Composing the background score for a full-length feature film. “It was a completely immersive experience,” he shares, “and taught me how music holds a narrative together.”

Inspiration Everywhere

From Kishore Kumar’s timeless emotion to Coldplay’s anthemic honesty, from Arijit Singh’s soul to the advice of his own teachers—AK pulls inspiration from everywhere. But above all, he credits his parents and himself as his biggest motivators. “Even when no one’s watching, I remind myself why I started.”

The Ups and Downs

Like every independent artist, AK has faced challenges—especially the pressure of staying consistent during creative blocks. Managing finances, juggling passion with practicality, and handling setbacks without losing momentum took effort. But he adapted. Routine, collaboration, and patience became his tools.

What’s Coming Next?

This year marks a big leap forward for AK. He’s releasing original tracks, planning live shows, and diving into cross-artist collaborations. But the dream doesn’t stop there. His long-term goal is to open a music institute—not just a place to teach production, but to nurture creativity and intuition in budding musicians.

A Simple Message

AK doesn’t force meaning into his music. Instead, he allows listeners to take what they need. “Music should be a space,” he says. “A space where people can feel, reflect, escape, or just vibe.”

For Every Emerging Artist…

His advice is honest and hard-won:
“Don’t wait to feel inspired—show up anyway. Be willing to sound bad before you sound brilliant. Growth is hidden in the repetition.”
